Greeting

* Call to Worship: (From Psalm 20)

L:  Some trust in their war chariots and others in their horses,

P:  But we trust in the power of the Lord our God.

L:  Let us worship the Lord in whom we can trust.

            P:  Thanks be to God!

* UMH # 89                                              “Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee”

Morning Prayer (Unison):

Almighty God, sometimes we put our trust in the wrong things and people, only to be disappointed and hurt.  We are easily seduced by powerful feelings like fear, anger, greed, and more.  The allure of shiny objects and shiny people are unbearable at times and we fall into the trap.  When will we learn that our ultimate trust should be in You?  Help us invest ourselves in You so we might be spared the betrayal from shiny objects and people.  Then help us share You with others.  In Christ we live and pray.  Amen.

            Questions of the Week….

1.      Paul says we live by faith and not by sight.  What are you waiting to see that’s keeping you from leaping in faith?

2.      Jesus spoke in parables to explain the unexplainable – God’s love.  What’s your favorite parable that helps you move out in faith?

3.      God chose David, the most unlikely of his brothers, to be king.  What’s your excuse for not answering God’s call?

                       MESSAGE FROM GARY AND PATTI:

Dear Friends,

We love you dearly and leave with a mixture of excitement, joy, and sadness.  If I were not retiring, this is definitely the church I would love to continue to serve.  However, God has made it clear that it is time to retire so Patti and I are about to head over the mountains to Virginia.  Here is our contact info:

It is the policy of our United Methodist Church that former pastors not return to conduct weddings and funerals. This is so new pastors will have the opportunity to get to know parishioners and minister to their ongoing needs.  I will probably write “Wednesday Wonderings” in the future but I cannot directly mail it to former parishioners.  If you’d like to receive future writings “friend me” on Facebook and see my posts.

We’d love to hear from you and would welcome your visits if you’re in the area!  Blessings and Peace, Gary and Patti
